April Break to Stockholm, Sweden

Our big holiday plan for 2012 was to go to visit friends in San Francisco but with flight prices rising all the time, it might be something we have to put back to 2013. That said, a holiday is much needed so we’re going to take a weekend break in April instead. After much deliberation (and an extended flirtation with a visit to Gothenburg), we finally settled on Stockholm. Thanks to absurdly cheap Ryanair flights (remind me of this when I complain about a) Ryanair and b) arriving at an airport 80km outside the city), we’re looking forward to a three day break.

We’re still to decide on a hotel but have reduced the choices down to just two or three. The Clarion Hotel in Sodermalm has been highly recommended by a couple of Twitter followers but I’ve also read very good things about the Elite Hotel Marina Tower on the western edge of Nacka (less centrally located) reviews extremely well, has stunning waterfront views and seems to offer more bang for buck. Hard choices.

I’ve never been to Sweden before so I’m very, very much looking forward to the break, especially after hearing glowing reports on Stockholm from friends. If anyone has any recommendations for places to see, visit or eat, I’d love to hear them.
